Standing Tall in the Canyon
Utah, A pine tree stands tall against the steep walls of Long Canyon in the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument. The trees that grow in these high-walled canyons are survivors. They get enough light and are protected from the strong winds that occur up top, and slowly, very slowly, they grow to great heights. I loved how this was matched with the tall stripe of desert varnish.
